ICTs and Teleworking

The June 15th edition of The New York Times contains a good read by David Pogue, on the domestication of information and communication technologies (ICTs), and the effects of ICTs on domestic relationships.  There have been numerous studies of how ICTs affect general patterns of sociability, but there isn’t as substantial a body of research focusing specifically on domestic sociability.  Two professors at the London School of Economics, Roger Silverstone and Leslie Haddon, have explored this area and their findings (PDF) are available on the Chalmers University of Technology Web site for those interested in further reading on the subject.
