Musings on March and a Motivating Work Environment

March is one of my favorite months of the year. This is partially because of college basketball's March Madness, the promise of spring around the corner and the always entertaining St. Patrick's Day. But the main reason I cherish March is because I celebrate my birthday on March 6th! My birthday has always served as a chance for me to take a step back from the hustle of life and reflect on the past year's accomplishments and experiences, and look forward to what the next year will bring.

As I reflect on my 26th year, the one thing that stands out is the amount of professional and personal growth I have experienced through working at v-Fluence Interactive Public Relations, Inc. A year ago, I had just reached the point where I was feeling confident in fulfilling my daily responsibilities, adapting fully to working mostly from a home office and developing relationships with most of my co-workers. I was ready to explore new opportunities and, luckily, v-Fluence is a firm that encourages associates to continue growing and learning within the company.

About six months ago, I jumped on the opportunity to be part of v-Fluence's [online environment optimization] team. This group specializes in the critical outreach and engagement of Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 spaces (through tactics like online media wires, social media releases, social bookmarking and content placement) that help us manage client online environments effectively. The work has been extremely rewarding as it has expanded my knowledge base and made me a more well-rounded public relations professional with a sharper sense of recommendations and counsel to offer clients.

Additionally, this past year I had the opportunity to bond with my co-workers at company-wide meetings in Ensenada, Mexico and St. Louis, MO. Both of these meetings were opportunities for me to share quality time with v-Fluence team members (who constantly impress me with their breadth of knowledge and creativity), make progress on key projects and partake in a variety of memorable conversations.

Lastly, this past year has made me appreciate v-Fluence's flexible working environment, as I am able to shape my work schedule so I can work during the times I am most productive. Always an early riser, I am able to hop online and work for a few hours while I am fresh from a good night's sleep. An outdoor enthusiast, I can never resist a mid-day run in the beautiful San Diego weather and this past year I have been able to maintain my resolution of a daily three-mile jog. Finally, the fact that my work station is mobile allows me to explore my neighborhood and work in nearby coffee shops. All of these aspects keep me focused and refreshed during my workday.

As I start my 27th year, I am looking forward to more opportunities with v-Fluence and expand my knowledge and abilities.
