Weather’s Not a Problem for a Virtual Company

Posted by Stephanie Phillips.
I was sitting on my couch last night in St. Louis amidst a horrible ice storm, listening to the newscasters talk about how bad the roads are, how treacherous the morning commute will be and I got to thinking, I’m glad I work for a virtual company. One of the many advantages of working for v-Fluence is that when Mother Nature wreaks havoc on the city, I don’t have to fight with her. While most people had to get up an extra hour early to fight the slower-than-normal traffic, I could keep my alarm right where it always is. While my fellow St. Louisans were sitting in traffic waiting for the numerous car accidents to be cleared, I’m starting my day at work. Our clients will not suffer because we’re sitting in traffic for two hours. So as long as my power doesn’t go out, (knock on wood) I’m ready for the day to begin.

Storms are a staple of the Midwest. A similar instance occurred in July of this year when bad thunderstorms hit St. Louis and knocked out the power to half a million homes and businesses, including those of v-Fluence team members. While many businesses were closed due to lack of electricity, v-Fluence merely had a hiccup. I was fortunate enough to have a friend who still had power and high-speed Internet, my co-workers merely had to search for a coffee shop with internet access. We were back online within a few hours. Our food may have been spoiled, but our clients didn’t suffer.
