New Twitter Features Streamline Users’ Navigation Path, Offer New Opportunities

Posted by George Jacobs.

Last month, popular microblogging/social networking site Twitter announced upcoming changes aimed at creating a more streamlined and simplified content sharing experience for users.

Soon, users will be able to embed audio and video into their Tweets and profiles, thus eliminating the extra step of clicking on a link to view images or clips externally. Twitter’s partnerships with 16 media providers, including Yahoo's Flickr and Google's YouTube, make this upgrade fully functional.

Additionally, an expanded sidebar that shows related content for specific Tweets will eliminate the need to toggle between Web pages, and the revamped site will include the ability to scroll down the page without having to press the "more" button.

These features are expected to help Twitter’s social users and businesses expand their reach. For example, customers and stakeholders will likely be more open to receiving relevant promotional messages and information from companies, given the addition of embedded video and audio content. It is also likely that advertisers will be able to take advantage of the revamped site through new ad content and strategies.

Currently, only select users have access to the new service options; Twitter will continue to roll out the update to more users over time.

Streamlined and
tailored microblogging/social networking sites may be the new sign of the times, and it appears Twitter is at the cutting edge of this trend. v-Fluence will continue to share updates on this trend and other Web 2.0 improvements as they surface!
