  • Craig G. Veith, Senior Counsel

    The founder and principal of Sound Resources, LLC Craig Veith serves as senior counsel to v-Fluence.  Veith brings a wealth of public affairs, media relations, grassroots and political campaign experience to the marketplace for a v-Fluence’s clients.  Specifically, Veith specializes in public affairs & issues management, crisis communications, labor issues, litigation communications support, media relations, public policy communications, communications training and third party & grassroots outreach. 

    Prior to founding Sound Resources, Veith served as President & Chief Executive Officer of Direct Impact, the preeminent grassroots firm in the industry.  As a member of Burson-Marsteller’s U.S. leadership team, Veith led the successful transition from the founders of Direct Impact to full integration into the WPP network of public relations agencies.  Veith also played a direct role as senior strategist for select clients, including the Business Roundtable, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and the United States Telecom Association, as well as serving as the firm’s leader on new business and new services development.

    Before joining Direct Impact in 2002, Veith served as the Chairman of U.S. Media Practice at Burson-Marsteller.  While at B-M, Veith developed and implemented integrated campaigns for a wide range of clients in the fields of transportation, telecommunications, environment, energy, international trade, agriculture and utility services. 

    His work included coordinating an award-winning, full-scale communications campaign for an American Water Works subsidiary fighting an eminent domain takeover, assisting a large telecommunications company prepare for negotiations with its represented employees, and serving as the global client leader coordinating an integrated campaign on behalf of Monsanto to communicate the benefits of agricultural biotechnology.  Veith also played a key role on an award-winning program for Bethlehem Steel to battle steel imports, and on a similar campaign for the U.S. textile manufacturers.  On behalf of the U.S. aviation industry, Veith helped manage a multi-faceted campaign that integrated paid and earned media, constituency development, grassroots education and mobilization, and government relations.


    His other experience includes providing strategic and crisis communications counsel to the Majority Shareholders of the Bank of Credit Commerce International (BCCI), following the worldwide regulatory closure action in July 1991.  He also served for two years as a key on-site team member in Abu Dhabi, advising the Majority Shareholders’ Working Group.  During the 1996 congressional election cycle, Veith was communications director for the National Republican Congressional Committee, where he was responsible for providing ongoing communications counsel to more that 100 congressional campaigns and acted as the Committee’s primary spokesman with the national political press corps and with reporters in more than 150 congressional districts.  He also served as press secretary for Congressman Mickey Edwards (R-OK) and communications director for the House Republican Policy Committee.


    Veith holds a B.A. in Public Policy Studies & Economics from Duke University.  He currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife and three children.
