Social Media Get the Nod From PR NewWire
    January 20th, 2007

As the buzz around social media gains ground, the newswires have been ramping up to stay relevant in this new media landscape.  This week PR Newswire signed an agreement with blog search engine Technorati that provides real-time social media link tracking for all of their press releases.

This will enable PR Newswire users to track the real-time online conversations around the big picture, so to speak, said Dave Sifry of Technorati.  It allows anyone who wants to see more context around a press release to follow the conversation that is developing online.

Is this a big deal for PR practitioners?  Yes and no, says Todd Defren of Shift Communications  - the creator of the Social Media Press Release template. Not so big because savvy PR folk are already tracking their releases into the social media arena using T’rati and other tools.  Big because it gives one more stamp of credibility to social media from a well-established newswire.
