v-Fluence Response to Tim Bray and our UCE/spam policy

A few bloggers have recently commented on Tim Bray's blog posting regarding v-Fluence outreach activities on behalf of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. We appreciate this constructive feedback and the many positive comments from bloggers about our efforts and will ensure this is reflected in future outreach. As to specific claims raised by Mr. Bray, v-Fluence has a policy regarding unsolicited commercial email (UCE) or spam and we welcome any comments or questions on this matter.

v-Fluence's response to Tim Bray's comments regarding USPTO and v-Fluence

Dear Mr. Bray:

I read your recent comments regarding v-Fluence outreach efforts on behalf of our client the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). First, I apologize that you received two copies of our email letter. This was not intended and we will remove your name and contact information from all our outreach activities.

Please note that our client does read blogs - we monitor IP blogs and share all the content, including your comments, with them on a daily basis. This includes the wide range of comments, critical, neutral and supportive, found online.

Outreach on their behalf to bloggers and other online influencers such as yourself was done by v-Fluence to help create awareness of USPTO small business education efforts that include increased dialogue with people who care about IP-related issues so that USPTO can be more aware of and responsive to issues of concern.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience caused by your receiving two copies of our email letter. Please be assured that your comments have been shared with our client.
